This large Edwardian house is located on the bank of the Thames and overlooks the Royal Paddocks of Hampton Court to the rear.
Having at one stage been converted into flats, the house had an institutional feel. Our brief was to open up the rooms to the views and to create extensive informal living spaces on the ground floor.
The house was extended to provide a family kitchen linked to the adjacent family sitting room through a large single pocket door with both spaces opening directly onto a large terrace.
The comprehensive refurbishment included underfloor heating, comfort cooling, en-suite bathrooms and integrated audio-visual, security and fire detection systems.
We hired GHK Architects to refurbish our newly acquired Edwardian house, primarily because they have extensive experience in period properties and historic buildings. Read more Richard Young is entirely decent, reliable and trustworthy and together with his team at GHK delivered to us a house which is fully updated but which still retains its character and which, after 11 years here, we still love. The design decisions made with Richard's guidance and suggestions have stood the test of time. We are thinking of undertaking another project shortly and would not hesitate to use Richard again.
