The UK Supreme Court GHK Architects

Formerly the Middlesex Guildhall, this Grade II building now houses the UK Supreme Court.

Opened by HM The Queen in October 2009, the Court replaces the Appellate Committee of the House of Lords. The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council also sit there.

The building contains three appeal courts; two in reconfigured existing court spaces and a third in a newly created double height space. A triple height library, public exhibition space and café, together with suites of offices and meeting rooms, complete the accommodation

The £35m refurbishment included significant conservation works to the very fine architectural features as well as reinstatement and roofing over of the two former lightwells to bring light back into the centre of the building.
